How to Break the Ice with an Elite Companion | Giulia Bellini

The first meeting, the first drink, the first glance — and why chemistry rarely needs a script.

There is a particular kind of anticipation that comes with meeting someone for the first time.

Perhaps you have exchanged a few messages. Perhaps you have been quietly curious for considerably longer. A beautiful hotel has been chosen, dinner is waiting downstairs, and suddenly the idea of meeting an elite companion is no longer an idea at all.

The door opens.

And for a surprising number of otherwise very confident gentlemen, one question suddenly appears:

What do I say now?

The answer is wonderfully simple.

You don’t need the perfect line.

Forget about impressing me

Meeting an independent luxury companion should never feel like an interview — for either of us.

I have met accomplished, intelligent men from very different worlds, and one thing remains remarkably consistent: confidence is most attractive when it doesn’t need to announce itself.

You don’t need to tell me everything you have achieved within our first ten minutes.

Instead, pour the champagne. Look at me. Ask me something you genuinely want to know.

Tell me about the restaurant you discovered in Tokyo, the ridiculous thing that happened during your last business trip, the book you couldn’t put down or the place you disappear to when you want the world to leave you alone.

Curiosity is infinitely more seductive than a résumé.

Yes, you are allowed to be nervous

There is an amusing misconception that gentlemen who meet a luxury escort or private companion are never nervous.

Of course they are.

Sometimes I am too.

Two strangers are meeting with the possibility of chemistry between them. That little uncertainty is part of what makes a first encounter exciting.

If you are nervous, you don’t need to conceal it behind excessive confidence. A quiet “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you” accompanied by a genuine smile can be considerably more charming.

The ice has usually broken before either of us notices.

Start with the world outside the room

One of the pleasures of being an international companion based in Milan is meeting people whose lives have taken them somewhere completely different from mine.

So tell me about it.

I love conversations about cinema, art, philosophy, travel, beautiful hotels, terrible flights, extraordinary restaurants and the peculiar little things we notice about cities.

An evening in Milan can begin over aperitivo and end somewhere neither of us planned.

A meeting in London may start with dinner.

Paris practically does half of the work for us.

And an international FMTY — Fly Me To You — engagement may give us considerably longer to discover each other.

Whether I am joining you as a private travel companion in Europe, meeting you in London or Paris, or travelling for a carefully selected engagement in Dubai, New York or elsewhere in the world, the principle remains the same:

Don’t manufacture chemistry. Give it somewhere to happen.

The first few minutes matter less than you think

Gentlemen sometimes imagine that an elite escort experience begins with some extraordinary cinematic moment.

Usually it doesn’t.

It begins with two people settling into each other’s presence.

A drink.

A laugh.

Eye contact that lasts perhaps half a second longer than necessary.

The gradual disappearance of that invisible distance that exists between two people who have never met before.

That is precisely why I prefer encounters with enough time around them. Luxury, to me, isn’t rushing through an itinerary. It is having enough space to forget that there was an itinerary in the first place.

As an independent companion, that freedom matters enormously to me.

I intentionally accept a limited number of private engagements because I want an encounter to feel like an encounter — not another appointment waiting between two others.

Compliments are welcome. Specific ones are better.

You are absolutely allowed to tell a woman she looks beautiful.

I promise we haven’t become tired of hearing it.

But the compliments people remember tend to be the ones that couldn’t have been said to just anyone.

Perhaps you noticed the way I speak.

Something I wrote in The Bellini Journal.

A photograph that made you curious rather than merely attracted.

Or something completely unexpected once we meet.

Attention is seductive because attention is increasingly rare.

And that applies in both directions.

What if we’re meeting through FMTY?

A Fly Me To You experience has its own particular atmosphere.

When a gentleman invites me to travel to him, whether within Europe or for a longer international destination, anticipation becomes part of the encounter itself.

There are flights and hotels, plans made weeks — sometimes considerably longer — in advance.

Then, finally, we are in the same city.

For me, FMTY companionship isn’t simply about travelling from Milan to another destination. It is the possibility of entering someone’s world for a little while.

Perhaps you show me your favourite restaurant.

Perhaps we’re attending an event together.

Perhaps I join you during a business trip and the hours that belong only to us become the best part of it.

Or perhaps we decide that the outside world can wait.

That is the beauty of private international companionship: the experience doesn’t have to follow somebody else’s definition of what a date should look like.

And if conversation suddenly stops?

Let it.

Silence between two people isn’t necessarily awkward.

Sometimes it is simply the moment when conversation stops doing all the work.

Take a sip of your drink.

Look at me.

Smile.

There are considerably worse things that can happen between a man and a woman than running out of things to say.

The real secret to meeting an elite companion

After travelling and meeting gentlemen from different countries and cultures, I have become convinced that the best encounters have remarkably little to do with perfection.

They have to do with presence.

Come as the man you actually are.

Be respectful. Be curious. Allow yourself to enjoy the anticipation rather than trying to control every minute of what follows.

Whether we meet for an elegant evening in Milan, a private date elsewhere in Europe, or you invite me to join you through FMTY anywhere in the world, you don’t need to arrive knowing exactly how our evening will unfold.

Neither do I, That’s rather the point.

Luxury is easy to arrange. Chemistry isn’t.

And perhaps the most seductive part of meeting someone new is discovering that neither of us needed to break the ice after all.
